Life and work of the French painter Claude Monet
Claude Monet, one of the founding fathers of French Impressionism, was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris. In 1859 he met C. Pissarro in Paris and in 1862 A. Renoir, A. Sisley and F. Bazille, with whom he moved from dark-toned figure painting to open-air painting. In 1874 he took part in the first Impressionist exhibition.
